Day Trip to Los Angeles

We had an average day trip yesterday. The group left San Diego at 10 a.m. (quite late for an almost two-hour drive to LA, a few hours to go around, and another almost 2-hour drive going back) and went to Venice Beach for lunch and a quick stroll.

It wasn’t really a jaw-dropping place but Venice Beach is considered as a tourist place. Many tourists visit the beach and an established lane of stores are seen there. The sand isn’t that beautiful; the water looks okay, but not too enticing for me to get wet right then and there.

Julio, Silvie, Anna, and I walked around for the remaining 20 minutes we had after we took our lunch. I saw a lot of garments (dyed beach dresses, dyed shirts and shorts…) which I have seen around in the Philippines and Thailand.

While walking back to the group’s meeting place, I saw the lifeguard’s pick-up – the same as those pick-ups commonly seen in the Baywatch series – running towards the waters. One of my friends said that someone might be drowning. It looked like that scene but we didn’t have the time to check and see as we had to proceed to our next venue – The Getty Museum, LA.

The Getty Museum in LA (short for J. Paul Getty Museum) is one of the two Getty Museums (one being in Malibu at the Getty Villa) which houses European paintings, drawings, sculpture, arts, furniture, costumes, and photographs.

After a few hours of checking the area, we were off to a mall – the Irvine Spectrum Mall in the Orange County! The setting is more of an outdoor mall with mostly the same familiar stores. We grabbed a quick Mexican bite and I went to H&M (Love that store!) and a few other stalls where I saw a lot of stuff which were made in the Philippines (Felt so proud as well!)! 🙂

We finished by 8 and did another 45 minutes of road travel. By the time we reached our apartment, I was exhausted. I tried logging on to the internet as I was scheduled to talk to someone from back home, but I was too tired to do so. So, I moved it to tomorrow. 🙂
